Controversy

I know when you get on the subject of vaccines, it can become tense and controversial, so I'm not going to say much here, other than I found this video clip to be... interesting.
If you start doing research on this subject it can be eye opening and a little scary too. Especially when you find out your Pediatrician does not vaccinate her own children.

When it comes to raising our kids, I think its excellent to consider and weigh out both sides. Not just do what's popular and common just because. Its interesting to cover all the facts on both sides -- see the good and the bad. I have an info sheet I can share with you (via email) with the ingredients that are used in vaccinations. Its.... eye opening. Especially if you're against abortion. People should be well informed.
I agree with you though - some kids probably very much benefit from it and some might not. We just need to know what each child can handle and also be aware of what we're putting into them. I'm a firm believer that not ALL vax's they want to throw at us are necessary.
Does anyone know if this Autism/Vaccine link is suspected in vaccines, other than the MMR? I am trying to figure out what to do, as Gillian's 18 mo. appointment is a month away...

MMR does seem to have more implications than most vaccines, but the controversy isn't just about the MMR. Vaccines, as a whole, what they are made of and how that reacts in children's bodies is really what is at stake. It's hard to make a quick summary, but it's definitely worth looking into. Here is a good link to look at

The video clip is *really* long, but packed full of info. Scroll down and look past the video for other helpful info. There is tons of research available--on both sides of the issue--for you to read and to help you make your decision.
I see this issue pop up at least two time a year on different sites here and there.
We just went through this with our 4 week old. Our nurse was the opposite of the video, she said most of the medical community is pretty frustrated because of the lack of data to prove that certain vacs cause autism. She says that autism is on the rise, and researches say they do not know why, but are not ready to link it to vacs.
Then on the other side of things, the government concluded that vaccines aggravated a rare underlying metabolic condition that resulted in a brain disorder “with features of autism spectrum disorder.” So there is no clear cut answer, much like the rest of medicine. Probably because we are all the same but so very different.
In our case, we decided across the board to get the shots. So far so good. Our thought was that getting the disease we are getting vac for was pretty close to as bad as the possible alternative. But that is just our thinking. That is the great thing about America, at least for now, we can make our own decisions about our own kids and we can do so with freedom.
